Indianapolis Indians News Release

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Right-handed pitcher Daniel McCutchen held the Pawtucket Red Sox scoreless until the sixth inning and the Indianapolis Indians' offense scratched out four runs to lead the Tribe to their sixth straight victory, a 4-1 win over the PawSox on Thursday night at McCoy Stadium.

The win moves the Indians' record to 11-10, while the loss drops the Red Sox to 8-13 on the season. With the victory, the Tribe has won six consecutive contests for the first time since June 2-7, 2007.

In his first start in an Indians' uniform during the 2010 campaign, McCutchen (7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) showed why he was named the 2009 Indianapolis Indians' MVP. The right-hander limited the PawSox to five hits and one run in seven dominant innings to earn his first victory of the season.

RHP Mike Dubee (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 SO) walked two batters with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Massachusetts native induced an inning-ending double play to preserve the Indians' 4-1 lead. LHP Wil Ledezma (1.0 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 SO) then came on and worked a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of the season.

Indianapolis jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second innings. CF Jose Tabata led off the contest with a single and moved to second base on an error by CF Bubba Bell. One out later, DH Brian Myrow doubled home Tabata to give the Indians the early one run lead. The Tribe added to their lead in the top half of the second inning on a sacrifice by SS Brian Friday to drive in C Luke Carlin, who had tripled with one out in the frame.

The Indians tacked on two more runs in the top half of the fourth inning on back-to-back two-out singles to take a 4-0 lead. With two men on and two outs, Tabata lined a ball through the right side of the infield to drive home RF Brandon Moss and send Carlin to third. After Tabata's base knock, LF Neil Walker tagged a 2-0 offering by PawSox starter Randor Bierd to plate Carlin and give the Indians the four run advantage.

Pawtucket led off the home half of the sixth inning with a solo home run by DH Josh Reddick, but McCutchen stranded runners at first and second to quiet any thoughts of a PawSox rally.

Each team saw two batters record multiple hits on the evening, with Tabata (2-for-5, 1 R, 1 RBI) and Carlin (2-for-4, 2 R) both reaching the two hit mark for the Tribe and Reddick (2-for-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI) and SS Angel Sanchez (2-for-3, 1 2B, 1 BB) each tallying two base knocks for the PawSox.

Red Sox RHP Bierd (5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO) was saddled with his second loss of the season after giving up four runs on seven hits in five innings of work. The Pawtucket bullpen, led by Robert Manuel (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 SO) and Scott Atchison (2.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 SO), held the Tribe scoreless over the final four frames.

The two teams conclude their four-game series on Friday, April 30 at 6:15 p.m. RHP Brad Lincoln is expected to get the call for Indianapolis, while RHP Adam Mills is the probable starter for Pawtucket.

The contest will be carried by WXLW-950 AM and www.IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley on the call. The pre-game show begins at 5:55 p.m.
