(Buffalo, NY) Durham's Heath Phillips threw the team's first complete game of the year, but it wasn't enough as the Bulls were one-hit on Thursday by knuckleballer R.A. Dickey in a 4-0 defeat.

Dickey (3-1), who has gone at least eight innings in four straight starts, was sterling, allowing only a leadoff single in the first inning to Fernando Perez. He then retired 27 in a row, and needed just 90 pitches to shut out the most productive lineup in the International League.

Coming in, the Bulls led the IL in batting average, runs scored, doubles, homers, walks and stolen bases. Dickey threw 68 of 90 pitches for strikes to hold Durham at bay.

Buffalo got an uneared run in the fourth against Phillips on a Mike Hessman groundout, the only run the Bisons would need. Buffalo then tacked on two in the seventh on a Chris Carter single and a double-play ball, and added one in the eighth on Ruben Tejada's first homer of the season.

Phillips (1-2) did not walk a batter in eight innings, fanning three. He allowed eight hits and four runs, three earned.

Durham (15-7) will look for a split of a four-game series with Buffalo on Friday as RHP Aneury Rodriguez takes the mound against LHP Pat Misch at 6:05. Coverage on 620 the Buzz begins at 5:50.
