
McCarron Scores Three for Florida in Comeback Win

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Florida Everblades (39-15-2-3) pulled off a three-goal comeback to defeat the South Carolina Stingrays (32-26-2-1) 4-3 with forward John McCarron scoring three times on Sunday afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Olivier Archambault picked up a goal and an assist for the Stingrays in the loss, while Andrew Cherniwchan earned two assists.
In a physical first period the Stingrays cashed in, scoring on both of their power play opportunities to take a 2-0 lead. First, John Parker moved through the Florida defense and used a backhand shot to beat goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic with some help from the left post. The tally was Parker's 15th of the season with assists from Archambault and Derek Arnold.
Just 2:29 later, Steven McParland deposited his 18th strike of the season into the back of the net after receiving a perfect pass from Cherniwchan at the front of the net. Defenseman Steve Weinstein picked up the second helper to extend his point streak to five games.
South Carolina added to the lead with their third power play goal of the game at 8:47 of the second when Archambault notched his ninth goal of the year from Max Nicastro and Cherniwchan to make it 3-0.
Florida began the comeback late in the second period when McCarron scored twice in a span of just 1:40. His first tally came on the power play at 17:14 of the frame, before another strike at 18:54 made it 3-2 before the end of the period.
With a penalty to Scott Tanski of South Carolina carrying over to the opening minute of the third, McCarron's third goal evened the score at 3-3 just 51 seconds into the final stanza.
The Everblades took their first lead of the weekend with their third power play goal of the game at 8:41 of the third on a tally by Stephen Macaulay which turned out to be the game-winner.
Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic earned the win for Florida with 23 saves, while Parker Milner took the loss for South Carolina after stopping 31 shots.
Each team scored three times on the power play in the game as the penalty boxes were filled with players all afternoon. The Stingrays finished 3-for-7 while Florida ended the game 3-for-10.
South Carolina returns to the ice on Saturday night against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at 7:05 p.m. inside the North Charleston Coliseum.
