Walleye Notes

Offense leads to two road wins: After dropping the first game of the weekend 3-1 in Kalamazoo the Walleye offense exploded for 12 goals on Saturday and Sunday. Evan Rankin scored with an assist Saturday to lead the Walleye to a 6-1 win over the Wings. Sunday, Zach Nastasiuk scored just 28 seconds into the game and also added a shorthanded goal for the Walleye to win in Wheeling 6-3.

New Walleye single season record: Shane Berschbach bested his own record by collecting his 49th assist of the season in Sunday's 6-3 win at Wheeling. Berschbach held the previous record of 48 that he collected in the 2014-15 season.

Closing on the best road mark: With two more road wins this past weekend, the Walleye are just one victory shy of the single-season record for road wins which is 24 set in the 2014-15 season (24-9-3). Toledo has three games still to come this season.

Ahead of the record pace: This year's team has 89 points and 43 wins through 60 games played this year which is ahead of the 2014-15 team (41-13-6) that won a Toledo ECHL record 50 games.

As the weekend goes: Toledo gets better as the weekend days go by starting with a record of 11-7-1 on Fridays. On Saturday Toledo has a record of 15-3-1 followed by a 9-1-0 Sunday mark.

Back at home for the rest of the month: Toledo finishes off March with a seven-game home stand starting Wednesday night against Brampton. Wednesday is the final meeting of the season between the Walleye and Beast with the Walleye owning a 6-2-1 record vs. the Beast. Saturday and Sunday are the first ever meetings for Toledo and Tulsa.
