Jackals Complete Series of Transactions

ELMIRA, N.Y.- The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, proudly celebrating our 10th season in the ECHL, announced today a series of transactions before three home games at First Arena. The Jackals have made a successful waiver claim on forward Nathan Moon and added forward Reed Seckel to the active roster after he was acquired in a trade from the Missouri Mavericks Thursday.
In corresponding moves, the Jackals have placed forward Greg Betzold on waivers and released goalie Keith Hamilton and forward Darren McCormick from their Amateur Tryouts .
Moon, 27, was waived by the Reading Royals over the weekend and will join his fifth team in 2016-17 . The fourth round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins, number 120 overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Moon has posted 23 points (9g, 14a) in 48 total games for Reading, Toledo, Wichita and Rapid City. He has 199 career ECHL points in 263 games. He has also appeared in 92 games in the AHL, mainly with the Worcester Sharks in 2011-12. Moon will wear #15 for the Jackals.
Seckel, 27, was acquired from the Mavericks at the trade deadline for defenseman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel. In 39 games for Missouri this season, the second-year pro has posted 15 points (6g, 9a) after chipping in with 21 points (8g, 13a) in 46 games with the Mavericks last year. Seckel will wear #9 for the Jackals.
Betzold skated in 40 games for the Jackals this season and potted 15 points (9g, 6a) in his rookie campaign.
McCormick appeared in two games last weekend for the Jackals without recording a point and Hamilton did not appear in a game for Elmira.
