Maysonet Delivers A Five Star Performance

The Lexington Legends captured a thrilling 9-8 win over Lake County Tuesday night. The Legends rallied for 2 runs in the bottom half of the tenth inning off of Lake County closer Chip Southerland. Edwin Maysonet smashed a two-out triple scoring Kevin Davidson and scored on Saul Torres' single to left field for the win.

It was a roller coaster game for both teams. The game featured four lead changes with each team having the lead twice. The Captains scored first on a two out single by Javi Herrera in the first inning, scoring Brandon Pinckney. The Legends evened the game with a run in the second and took the lead on a two-run homer by Freddy Acevedo in the third inning.

Lake County tied the game with two runs in the fourth thanks to back-to-back triples by Ted Encarnacion and Chris De La Cruz. Justin Humphries smashed a two run homer in the fifth inning to help the Legends regain the lead. The Captains rallied for 4 runs in the seventh to take a 7-6 advantage. Lexington scored a tying run in the 8th on a single by Ozzie Fernando.

Micah Schilling gave the Captains life with a solo home run in the top of the 10th setting up the Legends dramatic come from behind win.

Maysonet had two hits extending his hit streak to 10 games. Ozzie Fernando had three hits and two stolen bases and Ervin Alcantara had three hits and three runs. Freddy Acevedo also had two hits and three rbi.

Raymar Diaz (1-2) picked up the win with one inning, allowing just a run on one hit. Legends starter, Matt Albers pitched 6 solid innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits. Josh Muecke was knocked around for 4 runs on three hits in a third of an inning. Aaron Williams tossed 2.2 scoreless innings.

The Legends will open a three game series against Delmarva Wednesday night. Mitch Talbot will start for the Legends. The Shorebirds will begin with Chris Ray. First pitch is set for 6:35. The Summit Pre-game Show begins at 6:20 on Sports Radio 1300, WLXG.
