
Mayor Sylvester Turner to Headline Dynamo In-Game Festivities

HOUSTON- Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will help kick off the 2017 Houston Dynamo season by ceremoniously firing El Capitán, the Texas Revolutionary War-era cannon that resides with the winner of the annual Houston Dynamo-FC Dallas rivalry series, prior to kick-off of the Dynamo home opener. Mayor Turner headlines the game-day festivities around Dynamo Opening Day, presented by Pepsi Zero Sugar, but is far from the only highlight.
The Dynamo open the 2017 season, presented by 76©, against defending MLS Champions the Seattle Sounders this Saturday, March 4, at 7:30pm at BBVA Compass Stadium. Fans will want to arrive early to not miss any of the entertainment in the Bud Light Beer Garden including Grammy Award-winning Grupo Fantasma's pre-game concert presented by Pepsi Zero Sugar, plus food, drinks and games. Fans can also catch a free ride to the game on METRORail by showing their Season Ticket card or game ticket.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will fire El Capitán before kickoff Tyler Dial, Tyler Dial, an up-and-coming force on the country music scene, will perform the National Anthem. His first single, "Damn Good Time", received major airplay on satellite radio, including SiriusXM's The Highway. A junior at the University of Texas in Austin and a lifelong soccer fan and competitive player, Dial turned down several soccer scholarships from top schools to focus on the pursuit of his music career. Following the anthem Dial, a BBVA Compass Brand Ambassador, will be available for a meet and greet by Section 114 with fans on the main concourse of BBVA Compass Stadium. At the conclusion of the national anthem, a helicopter flyover of BBVA Compass Stadium will be performed by the United States Coast Guard. Urban acrobatic sensation Beale Street Flippers will perform during halftime. After becoming semi-finalists on America's Got Talent, the Beale Street Flippers have been wowing crowds across the country with their athleticism and raw acrobatic talent.
