HUNTSVILLE, AL- In a hard-fought road game against the Huntsville Havoc on Sunday night, the Mayhem pieced together a 3-2 victory to win their eighth consecutive game.

For the second straight night, the Mayhem scored twice to start the game. Jake Trask, whose six-game goal-scoring streak had just been broken the previous night, stepped into the left circle on a Mayhem power play. The SPHL's top goal-scorer ripped a shot over Mike DeLaVergne's shoulder to draw first blood for Macon. The Mayhem outshot Huntsville 16-6 in the opening frame.

Jimmy Soper buried his second goal in as many games just 3:27 into the second. Receiving a breakout pass from Sam Wilbur, Soper drove down the right wing from center ice and one-handed the puck through DeLaVergne to double the Mayhem's lead. His strike, however, was answered midway through regulation, when Christian Powers redirected a slap shot taken from the right circle on a Huntsville power play.

The Mayhem had limited Huntsville to a mere 12 shots on goal through the first 40 minutes of play. Jordan Ruby, making his fourth consecutive start, had stopped 11 of them. At the end of the second period, Dakota Klecha and Ryan Selkeld found themselves in a brawl behind the Macon goal line. As a result, each of them sat for five minutes to start period three.

Stathis Soumelidis had been robbed on a breakaway in each of the previous two games over the weekend. The third time was the charm for him, as he tucked a shot through DeLaVergne's five-hole 9:15 into the third period. Huntsville again had a fairly quick response, as Ryan Salkeld tapped his second goal of the season past Ruby less than three minutes later.

The Havoc finally generated a flurry of shots on goal late in the game. Ruby had another stellar performance in goal and held Huntsville's snipers off the scoresheet in the closing minutes, backstopping the Mayhem to their eighth consecutive victory.

Ruby earned his fifth straight win, stopping 26 of the 28 shots sent his way. DeLaVergne was given the regulation defeat, denying 29 of 32. The Mayhem will head to Roanoke to square off against the Rail Yard Dawgs next Friday, November 16th at 7:05 pm ET.
