Huntsville Havoc News Release
PENSACOLA, FLA - The Huntsville Havoc started the weekend by beating the Pensacola Ice Flyers in dramatic fashion - an overtime win Friday night in front of a sell-out crowd at the Von Braun Center.
The Ice Flyers returned the favor Saturday night, beating the Havoc in overtime at the Pensacola Bay Center 4-3.
The home team jumped out to an early lead in the first period and went into the break with a two-goal head start on Huntsville.
Stephen Hrehoriak put the Havoc (4-1-1) on his back, scoring a powerplay goal less than a minute into the second period and a second goal with five minutes left in the frame. Unfortunately, the goals sandwiched Brantley Sherwood's second goal for Pensacola (2-4-1) and the period ended with Huntsville down 3-2.
Havoc rookie Hunter Stewart picked a good time to get his first goal of the season, scoring at the 8:30 mark of the third period to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime.
In the extra frame, Tyler Piacentini - who scored the game-winner in OT on Friday night - was assessed a tripping penalty and the Ice Flyers scored on the resulting powerplay to earn the 4-3 win.
Huntsville goalkeeper Max Milosek got his first start of the season, stopping 36 of the 40 shots he faced. Six different Havoc recorded assists in the game.
For the second consecutive night, three games in the SPHL went to overtime.
Pensacola's win was the first in four tries against the Havoc so far this season. The teams won't meet again until Thursday, December 27, in Pensacola.
