Macon Mayhem News Release
MACON, GA- After scoring the first goal of the game, the Macon Mayhem allowed four unanswered goals, losing 4-1 to the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
Macon lead off the scoring with Nick Grasso scoring on a shot from the point. That is Grasso's seventh goal of the season, assisted by Stephen Pierog and Matt Summers - their 25th and 17th assists, respectively. Pensacola went on to score four unanswered goals throughout the next 22 minutes of hockey to take a 4-1 lead in the second period. Ken Neil started the scoring for Pensacola off of a great saucer pass from Aaron Clarke to make it 1-1. With just 19 seconds left in the first, Clarke got a goal of his own to take the 2-1 lead.
In the second period, Pensacola would get two goals in the first 11:14 to make it 4-1. The line of Jesse Stoughton, Massimo Lamacchia, and Stephen Hrehoriak scored both of the goals, as Stoughton scored the first and Hrehoriak scored the second. All three players recorded two points in the second period.
Neither team found the back of the net in the third period, and the Ice Flyers skated away with the 4-1 victory.
NOTABLE STATS
The Mayhem are now 35-13-6 on the season, including 16-6-4 at home. Today's loss was their first regulation loss of the season to the Ice Flyers, as they finish with a 6-1-1 record against them in the regular season.
