FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Clinton outfielder John Mayberry homered and drove in three runs to lead the LumberKings to a 7-4 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the completion of a suspended game from Thursday night. Clinton built a 6-0 lead and held off a late Wisconsin rally.

Mayberry gave the LumberKings (43-85 overall, 20-39 second half) a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI triple. Grant Gerrard doubled to lead off the fourth inning, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead before the suspension of play on Thursday night.

When play resumed, Mayberry made it 3-0 with a long home run to left in the top of the sixth.

Clinton padded their lead on a two-out, two-run double by Terry Blunt and a bases loaded walk to Mayberry in the top of the seventh.

Wisconsin (47-82, 20-39) finally broke into the run column in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Gerardo Avila.

The Rattlers crept closer in the bottom of the eighth. Eddy Hernandez started the inning with a double. Chris Minaker was next and drilled a homer to left. Later in the inning, Adam Moore grounded into a double play with the bases loaded that allowed a run to score from third and pull the Rattlers to within 6-4. The Rattlers loaded the bases again later in the inning, but Jose Marte got out of the frame.

Then, Clinton's offense went back to work in the top of the ninth. Blunt doubled to start the inning and scored on a throwing error after an infield single.

Wisconsin got two runners on base with one out on a single and a walk. However, Marte got the final two outs to nail down the win for the LumberKings.
