Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
SALISBURY, Md - Trevor May made history Tuesday night, as the BlueClaws crushed Delmarva 9-0 to take four of five on the road trip and improve to a season-best 24 games over .500.
May (3-1) struck out 14 through seven innings, tying the BlueClaws single game record and establishing a new career high. He let up just four hits and didn't walk a Delmarva (15-17) batter.
BlueClaws (21-11) starters have now gone 31 innings without giving up an earned run.
An RBI single by Stephen Batts opened the scoring in the fourth. The Claws added to their lead with three in the fifth, one coming in on a Leandro Castro single and two unearned runs scoring on a two-base error by TJ Baxter.
Castro returned to the lineup after missing ten games on the disabled list, and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Jeremy Barnes hit his second home run of the season in the sixth to extend the edge to 5-0. It was Barnes' first homer since Lakewood's fourth game of 2010.
The BlueClaws poured some more salt in the wound plating four more runs in the seventh. Michael Dabbs singled in one, and Batts tripled in two more runs. Barnes then picked up an RBI double to push the lead to 9-0.
Wednesday night at 7:05 pm the Claws return home for a four game series against the West Virginia Power. RHP Josh Zeid (5-4, 3.20) will take on RHP Melkin Laureano (2-3, 3.13).
