ICYMI: Marcos Diplan struck out eight and allowed just one hit over six quality innings, but the Mudcats lost a 3-1 lead in the seventh as the Astros rallied back for a 4-3, series clinching victory at Jim Perry Stadium in Buies Creek on Wednesday night.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Mudcats lost a 3-1 lead in the seventh last night as they fell to the Astros 4-3 in Buies Creek. Reliever Alec Kenilvort allowed three runs in the seventh and ended up suffering his third blown save and second loss of the season. The Carolina bullpen is currently 9-9-9 with a 4.70 ERA this season. They have converted just nine of 19 save opportunities; accounting for a Carolina League low 47% success rate.

VS. ROCKS: The Mudcats begin a new four game home stand tonight with game one of a four game series versus the Wilmington Blue Rocks at Five County Stadium. Carolina took two out of three from the Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington between April 16 and April 18 and lead the overall season series 2-1. Tonight's game is the fourth of seven total games between the Mudcats and Blue Rocks this season.

MUDCATS STARTER: RHP Trey Supak has tonight's series opening start for the Mudcats against the Blue Rocks. Supak is currently 1-1 with a 1.97 ERA and has totaled 29 strikeouts, 11 walks and a .194 average against over 32.0 innings pitched this season. Supak is currently 5th in the league in earned run average (1.97), 3rd in WHIP (1.00), 4th in average against (.194) and tied for 3rd fewest baserunners/9ip ratio (9.84). He last pitched on May 5 against the Wood Ducks at Five County Stadium and ended up with the tough luck loss after allowing just two runs on four hits over 6.2 innings pitched. He left the game with Carolina leading 1-0, but also left with two runners on base. Both of which scored moments later when reliever Nattino Diplan gave up a two run home run to Andretty Cordero. Supak's lone victory so far this season came on April 17 against the Blue Rocks when he worked through 5.0 scoreless frames with six strikeouts, one walk and three hits allowed in Wilmington.

OPP STARTER: RHP Ofreidy Gomez gets the call for tonight's series opener for the Blue Rocks. Gomez is 1-2 and has pitched to a 4.87 ERA over six games and three starts so far this season. He has also totaled 28 strikeouts, 19 walks and a .247 average against this season. Gomez last pitched on May 5 versus the Keys and ended up allowing four runs on three hits over 1.2 innings pitched. He also struck out one, walked four and ended up with a no-decision his last time out. Gomez faced the Mudcats on April 18 in Wilmington where he allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits over 2.2 innings pitched. He also walked three and struck out three while suffering the loss in his first appearance against Carolina this season.

STRUGGLING LATE: Mudcats pitchers have combined to pitch to a 7.08 ERA (20 R, 16 ER, 19 BB, 22 SO) in the ninth inning so far this season. They have also pitched to a 5.18 ERA in the eighth and a 3.77 ERA in the seventh... Conversely, the Carolina pitching staff owns a 3.53 ERA from the 1st through 5th innings this season.

STREAKING: Dallas Carroll is currently in a season high seven game hitting streak (.333/.375/.333, 9 H, 2 R, 8 RBI).

WALK THIS WAY: The Mudcats pitching staff has combined to walk a Carolina League high 156 batters this season. Those 156 BB are also the 2nd most in all of MiLB.

McDowell caught four base runners attempting to steal and picked off another at first on Opening Night, 4/5 vs. Winston-Salem. He and the Mudcats also allowed six stolen bases on 4/19 vs. BC.
