Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau and defender Kamal Miller have been called into the Canadian Men's National Team for the FIFA international period in March, Canada Soccer announced today.
Following the Timbers match against the Houston Dynamo on March 16, the duo will join Canada in Frisco, Texas for their Copa América Play-In match against Trinidad and Tobago at Toyota Stadium on March 23. Canada needs a win against Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for their first ever CONMEBOL Copa América, set to take place in the United States in June and July this year.
Crépeau, 29, has made 15 appearances (14 starts) for the Canadian Men's National Team. The Quebec native last joined Canada in the Concacaf Nations League Finals against Jamaica during the November FIFA window in 2023, and made his last appearance against Panama on March 30, 2022, in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Crépeau helped Canada qualify for the team's second all-time World Cup appearance in 2022, logging four appearances (all starts) in the qualifiers before missing the World Cup due to an injury with LAFC in the 2022 MLS Cup on Nov. 11, 2022.
Miller, 26, has made 41 appearances (37 starts) for the Canadian Men's National Team. Most recently, Miller logged two full 90-minute appearances in the Concacaf Nations League Finals against Jamaica in November of 2023. Notably, the Toronto native was part of Canada's 2022 FIFA World Cup roster, starting in all three of Canada's group stage matches. Miller helped Canada qualify for the 2022 World Cup with 12 appearances in 14 Concacaf qualifying matches.
