FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, March 28) - Forward Maximiliano "Maxi" Urruti has agreed to the terms of a new, three-year contract with FC Dallas, the club announced today. Per team policy, terms were not disclosed.
"Maxi has played a big part in our success at FC Dallas the last few seasons," said FC Dallas Technical Director Fernando Clavijo. "We're glad he'll be a part of the FC Dallas family for the next few years."
Urruti, 27, has scored 22 goals and nine assists in 65 MLS regular-season appearances since being selected by FC Dallas in the 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft. The striker has led the club in goals per game in each of the past two seasons.
"I am very excited that Maxi is committed to FC Dallas for the next three years," said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. "I am appreciative of his patience through our contract negotiations. I look forward to seeing more goals and arrows shot into the stands during his goal celebrations."
FC Dallas won its first MLS Supporters' Shield and the U.S. Open Cup in Urruti's first season with the club. The Argentine scored two goals in the 4-2 victory vs. New England in the final at Toyota Stadium on Sept. 13, 2016.
When Urruti scores or assists, FC Dallas is 22-0-8 all-time, across all competitions. He led all FCD players in minutes played last season with 2,749.
Urruti won MLS Cup 2015 as a member of the Portland Timbers. His professional career began in Argentina with Newell's Old Boys after he graduated from the club's youth academy. Urruti scored 12 goals in 56 appearances for Newell's between 2010 and 2013.
