FC Dallas Foundation Announces 2018 Grant Recipients

Frisco, TX - The FC Dallas Foundation announced its 2018 grant recipients today. Each of the grantees focuses on improving the health and well-being of underserved youth in North Texas through sports with an emphasis on one of the Foundation's three pillars: Healthy Lifestyle, Building Character and Education.

"The FC Dallas Foundation has been focused on helping results-driven organizations make a greater impact in our community," said FC Dallas Foundation Executive Director Melissa Bair. "We are so grateful to our donors, fans and supporters who contributed by making generous donations, bidding on silent auction items at our events and participating in our community outreach efforts."

Each grant recipient receives a $2500 donation from the FC Dallas Foundation. The grant program launched in 2017 with the goal of awarding $20,000 in grants each year.

2018 Grant Recipients

Bonton Farms

Bonton Farms is an urban farm located in a south Dallas community that for years had been considered a "food desert" where access to healthy foods is virtually non-existent. Bonton is a community in which 85% of the men have been to prison, poverty is rampant and jobs are scarce. Bonton Farms' mission is to change that by employing individuals who struggle to find career opportunities and providing healthy food options to a neighborhood that previously didn't have any. This year's grant will be used to help fund the Market at Bonton Farms which will serve as a neighborhood market and café serving breakfast and lunch. Health and wellness programming will fill the afternoon and evening hours.

George H. W. Bush Elementary - Patriots Soccer Program

George H.W. Bush Elementary school is located in Addison, Texas and is part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school's goal is to adopt the US Soccer Foundation's Soccer for Success program as the curriculum for GHWB PTA Soccer. The program will provide GHWB students with an after-school program proven to help kids establish healthy habits and develop critical life skills.

Jubilee Park and Community Center

Jubilee Park and Community Center is a catalyst for community renewal and enrichment in the Jubilee Park Neighborhood, a 62-block area in southeast Dallas. In 2014, the FC Dallas Foundation and the United Arab Emirates built a synthetic turf field for the kids of Jubilee Park. This year's grant will be used to support the organization's Youth Athletics Initiative. The soccer program plays in the local YMCA league.

Love is Ministry - Vickery United FC

Love Is Ministry is a non-profit organization that is passionately reaching out to refugee youth in North Texas by helping them integrate into American society and make a positive difference in their lives through soccer. Vickery United FC offers a soccer program in the refugee community in Dallas to encourage the youth to stay active in sports. It also offers mentoring programs with by aligning the young athletes with coaches and volunteers.

2019 FC Dallas Foundation Grant Program

The FC Dallas Foundation will continue its grant program in 2019. Applications are due on January 15, 2019. Grant recipients will be announced in March 2019. For more information, visit FCDallas.com/Foundation.

Formed in 2010, the FC Dallas Foundation's mission is to promote healthy, active lifestyles for underserved youth in North Texas. The Foundation focuses on three pillars: Healthy Lifestyle, Character Building and Education.

The FC Dallas Foundation operates a number of initiatives which athletes across North Texas benefit from every day. The Foundation has teamed with corporate partners to build six soccer pitches in Dallas, Denton and Collin counties worth more than $1.2 million. The Foundation also fields a Special Olympics team, awards scholarships, builds STEM labs and, through the Gear Up Project, collects new and gently-used soccer gear from organizations, teams, clubs and individuals to distribute them to help disadvantaged youth enjoy the sport of soccer.
