INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks won their fourth straight game Thursday night, 4-1, over the Tulsa Oilers at Independence Events Center. The win streak is the longest such streak this season for Missouri, and the team set a record with 50 shots on goal. Four different players scored goals for the Mavericks and goaltender Gerry Festa stopped 21 of 22 shots for his fourth win of the season. The Oilers scored the first goal just 1:17 into the first period on David Beauregard's first goal in his first game with Tulsa. Defenseman Derek Eastman took a shot from the left point that trickled out Festa's gear and Beauregard was there to put it in the net behind Festa. Missouri continued to battle and killed a couple of Tulsa power plays during the remainder of the period. At the 16:55 mark of the first, the Mavericks were awarded a penalty shot due to an Oilers' player handling the puck in the crease. Forward Jeff Christian took the shot but was robbed on a backhand bid by Oilers' goaltender Marty Magers. Missouri continued the pressure and final beat Magers with just five seconds remaining in the period. Braden Walls scored his fifth goal of the season in a scrum in front of the net. Mike Burgoyne and Toby Lafrance earned assists on the play that tied the game at one as the teams headed into the locker room.

The Mavericks carried the pressure in the opening 10 minutes of the second period outshooting the Oilers 10-1. Brett Hammond finally unlocked the 1-1 tie when he tipped a shot by Mike Harr that went over the right shoulder of Magers. The goal came at the 18:02 mark of the second and Christian earned the other assist.

The Mavericks got the insurance goal on Jeff MacDermid's 12th power play goal and 18th goal overall this season. MacDermid shoved the puck under the leg pad of Magers to give the Mavericks a 3-1 lead just 4:33 into the final period. Mavericks' forward Karl Sellan capped the scoring with his 10th goal of the season on an empty netter with five seconds remaining in the period. It marked Sellan's 11th shot of the game and topped the Mavericks team record for shots in a game by an individual.
