Mavericks to Host Fan Fest on Saturday, September 17

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Missouri Mavericks President and General Manager Brent Thiessen announced today the Central Hockey League (CHL) team will host a Fan Fest on Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the main floor of Independence Events Center. All fans and media are invited to attend the event.

Thiessen also announced the Mavericks will make known the next two player signings via text message this Wednesday, August 3. Fans wishing to sign up for the Mavericks text alerts courtesy of Verizon Wireless can text the word "MAVERICKS" to 74974. The two players will be announced through text and the team will make a formal press announcement on Thursday, August 4.

At Fan Fest, the Mavericks will make special announcements regarding the fan experience at home games, as well as introduce new players for the upcoming 2011-12 season. Fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet Head Coach Scott Hillman and a number of the players who are signed to the roster for next season. Fan Fest will feature something for the whole family and concessions will be open throughout the day.

"We are very excited to host our second annual Fan Fest," said Thiessen. "This will be a great event to begin the 2011-12 season, a season we hope to be the best yet, both on and off the ice."

Fan Fest will also be the first chance for fans to purchase individual game tickets for all 33 regular-season home games for the 2011-12 season. The Box Office will be open starting at 10 a.m. The CHL should announce the entire 2011-12 season schedule in the near future.

Events included in Fan Fest are:

* Mavericks' players and Head Coach Scott Hillman will be on hand throughout the day to sign autographs and host question and answer sessions with the fans.

* Kid's Zone with bouncy castles, a hockey shoot booth, obstacle course and video games.

* Locker room tours

* Mac and the Filly Spirit Squad will be on hand

* Fan pictures

* Top Shelf Team Store

* Select-a-Seat for fans wishing to purchase season tickets

* Concessions

The Missouri Mavericks will begin their third season in the Central Hockey League in October. The Mavericks play their home games at the state-of-the-art Independence Events Center where parking is always free. Individual game tickets will go on sale on September 17, and season tickets are on sale now starting at just $11 per game.
