Mavericks Come out on Top in Tulsa

November 1, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks take a close call 4-3 win in Tulsa over the Oilers to preserve their undefeated 5-0-0 start to the 2013-14 season.

The Mavericks took an early lead in the first period. Mike Ramsay took the first shot of the game for the Mavericks and scored not only the first Missouri goal, but his first goal of the season as well. The points continued to add up for the Mavericks when Matt Stephenson and Eric Castonguay rang in a power play goal apiece to take a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.

The Oilers were not going to go down without a fight, and with Ben Gordon and Eric Tallent's goals, the Mavericks control of the game was in doubt. The Mavericks had not let up more than one goal in their last two games until tonight.

Adam Pleskach fired in a dangerous goal to tie the game 3-3 all at the top of the third, but John-Scott Dickson locked in the win for the Mavericks with another power play goal to take the 4-3 lead over the Oilers.

The Mavericks play their first home game on Saturday, November 2. Doors open at 5:30pm and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free cowbell to ring in their home series start as an undefeated team.

With season tickets starting at just over $11 per game and FREE parking, the Mavericks are the pinnacle of family affordable entertainment.
