November 1, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Road Test for Fish- The undefeated Denver Cutthroats (5-0-0) face a stiff test this weekend when they hit the road for the first time this season playing three-games-in-three-days. The journey begins in Allen against the unbeaten in regulation first place Americans (5-0-1) and then moves on to Missouri where the undefeated Mavericks will be playing their home opener on Saturday and then finishes in Wichita against the Thunder (1-2-2) on Sunday. Denver is coming off a 7-3 win on Wednesday over Brampton ending their season-opening five-game home stand with a perfect mark. Garett Bembridge and Vincent Arseneau each had hat tricks for the Cutthroats.

2.) End of the Road- The Missouri Mavericks (4-0-0) will see their season-opening road trip come to an end on Friday night in Tulsa against the Oilers (0-3-2). Missouri is unbeaten on their trip outscoring the opposition by a 16-6 margin thus far. Sebastien Thinel and Trevor Kell each have six points on the trip so far. Missouri heads home after Friday's game to host the Denver Cutthroats in the home opener at the Independence Events Center. The Mavs will be without Colt King and David Pszenyczny who are both serving three-game suspensions that end after Saturday's game.

3.) Hall of Fame Game- The CHL Hall of Fame Class of 2013 will be honored prior to the Tulsa Oilers/Allen Americans game on Saturday night at the BOK Center in Tulsa. One of the all-time great Oilers, Doug Lawrence, is one of the five men that were inducted into the CHL Hall of Fame this year. The three-time All-Star played in the majority of his career in Tulsa and is currently fourth on the League's all-time points list (875). He is joined by one of the CHL's all-time great defensemen, Hardy Sauter, as well as former Oklahoma City coach Doug Sauter in the Class of 2013. The other two members are former Oklahoma City front office leader Brad Lund and the current Commissioner Emeritus of the CHL, N. Thomas Berry.

By the Numbers

4: The number of goals that Rapid City forward Konrad Reeder has this season in five games played helping the Rush to a perfect 5-0-0 record. Reeder leads the Rush into battle this weekend in a pair of games against the Arizona Sundogs, a team he scored 25 goals for back during the 2009-10 season. Reeder scored a goal in Wednesday's 3-2 win by Rapid City over the Sundogs and also recorded a score in the game deciding shootout.

One-Timers

-Dating back to the beginning of February, end of the 2012-13 season, Rapid City goalie Tim Boron is 14-2-1 allowing just 37 goals in those games (just over two per contest).

-The Wichita Thunder are still looking for their first home-ice win (0-1-1) and will get that chance on Friday when they host Brampton. The Thunder led the CHL with five more home-ice wins last season than any other club (25)

-The Arizona Sundogs (1-4-1) have had to play catch-up all season thus far as they have trailed heading into the third period in each of their six games this season. The Sundogs have earned points in two of those six games.

-The Quad City Mallards host the St. Charles Chill on Friday and the Brampton Beast on Saturday. The Flock have the highest scoring offense in the CHL averaging 5.33 goals per game but they also allow the most goals per game at 5.67. Mike Stinziani has four goals in three games so far for the Mallards.

-The Allen Americans have played in three shootouts, most of any club, going 2-1 in those games. Allen has played in five one-goal games going 4-0-1 in those contests.

-The St. Charles Chill have been outshot by 40 shots this season, largest difference of any CHL club (186-146). The Chill are giving up more than 37 shots per game.

-Still looking for their first win of the season, the Tulsa Oilers (0-3-2) waived Thomas Beauregard and Tomas Klempa on Thursday. The due were looked upon to be big contributors to the club but thus far Beauregard had just one assist and Klempa just one goal.

-Brampton's Brett Smith scored his league-leading second shorthanded goal of the season on Wednesday in Denver. The Beast lead the CHL with three SHG's on the season.

-CHL-TV, powered by America ONE Sports, is back for a second season with monthly and season packages available as well as all games on a given night available for $8.00. Visit www.americaonesports.com for ordering information.
