Mateychuk, Firkus & Alarie Named Players to Watch by NHL Central Scouting

Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

Three members of the Moose Jaw Warriors were listed by NHL Central Scouting as "Preliminary Players to Watch" on Tuesday.

Defenceman Denton Mateychuk and forwards Jagger Firkus and Eric Alarie were among the 45 players from the Western Hockey League to be rated on the list.

Mateychuk is one of just three players in the WHL to earn an 'A' rating, which projects him as a first-round prospect.

The Dominion City, MB product has already matched his career-high in goals with two through six games this season to go along with two assists and a plus-three rating.

Firkus and Alarie were both given 'C' ratings, which projects both players to be selected between the fourth and sixth rounds.

Firkus has two goals and six points in six games this season for the Warriors.

Alarie went undrafted in the 2021 NHL Draft, but attended training camp with the Florida Panthers. The Winnipeg product has three assists in six games this season.

The Warriors will be back on the ice on Wednesday when they travel to Winnipeg to face-off with the ICE.
