Saskatoon Blades News Release
SASKATOON, SK - Three members of the Saskatoon Blades have turned heads among NHL Central Scouting to begin the season.
Forward Brandon Lisowsky, along with defencemen Charlie Wright and Pavel "Pasha" Bocharov, have been given a 'C' rating on NHL Central Scouting's preliminary "Players to Watch" list ahead of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. A 'C' grade indicates a likely draft selection in the 4th, 5th, or 6th round.
Lisowsky, a former first-round pick by Saskatoon, is off to a flying start to his sophomore campaign, sitting tied for third in team scoring with five points (4G-1A) in six games. The Port Coquitlam, BC product also has a history working with Hockey Canada's development program, having recently attended the U18 development camp in the off-season.
Wright, a product of Olds, AB, is entering his third full season with the Blades and is considered to be one of the team's top defensive weapons. The 6-foot-1, 178-pound blueliner has two assists in six games this season, and had one of the best +/- rankings on the team last year at +10 through all 24 games.
Escondido, California's Bocharov has also taken immense steps in his development, having made his WHL debut last year in Regina. The 2004-born defenceman sits tied for third on the team with a +3 rating this season with one assist in six games. A former eighth-round selection by Saskatoon, Bocharov was given the "C" as captain for Team USA U18 at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in August - the only WHL player to compete for the United States at the tournament.
OHL forward Shane Wright remains the consensus favorite to be selected first overall next year.
