August 5, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Tacoma Defiance News Release
Tacoma Defiance (4-4-5, 17 points) hosts Sacramento Republic FC (4-6-4, 16 points) on Thursday evening at Cheney Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+) in the first of four scheduled meetings between the two sides. Tacoma is unbeaten in six matches at home in 2021, extending that streak with a 0-0 draw against New Mexico United on Sunday, August 1.
Sacramento, currently riding a three-match unbeaten streak, sits sixth in the Pacific Division of the USL Western Conference.
Tacoma was not without its chances in the contest against New Mexico, with Samuel Adeniran nearly finding the back of the net on a header attempt. Defiance goalkeeper Andrew Thomas shined as well, stopping two back-to-back, one-on-one attempts at goal to keep the game scoreless and gain a point for the squad.
Following today's contest, Defiance finishes off its four-game homestand with a weekend matinee against Oakland Roots on Sunday, August 8 (1:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
