New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - Owning a two road-goal advantage, the New York Red Bulls will advance to the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals with a win or a draw against Club Atletico Pantoja in Leg 2 on Wednesday at Red Bull Arena. Leg 2 of the Round of 16 is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on YahooSports.com and New York Red Bulls Radio in English.
New York Red Bulls Radio will have Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley on air, beginning at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda.
Following a 2-0 victory at Felix Sanchez Stadium in Leg 1, the Red Bulls return to Red Bull Arena for their first home match of 2019 for Leg 2. Since Red Bull Arena was constructed in 2010, New York has an eight-match unbeaten SCCL streak at RBA (5-0-3). The Red Bulls improved to 6-2-5 in SCCL play during their three-straight tournament appearances.
New York heads back to RBA for the first time in 2019 with a chance to close out the Round of 16 and advance to the quarterfinals. The Red Bulls either won or drew all three of their SCCL Leg 2 matches in 2018 at RBA and currently haven't allowed a goal across all competitions at RBA in seven matches, which spans 667 minutes.
New York captain and goalkeeper Luis Robles posted his fourth shutout in the last seven SCCL matches and his sixth overall in Leg 1 against Pantoja. Daniel Royer recorded his second SCCL goal of his career, while Kaku tallied his first career SCCL assist in Leg 1.
Following Wednesday's match, the Red Bulls open MLS play against Columbus Crew SC on Saturday at MAPFRE Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG and New York Red Bulls Radio.
