Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville, KY (May 15, 2015) -- The first MLS II team and first international team to visit Louisville, comes to town on Saturday, May 16th when Toronto FC II (2-1-4 7 points) takes on Louisville City FC (3-1-3 12 Points) at Slugger Field at 7:30 pm.
City will go into tomorrow night's match undefeated at home with three wins and one draw. In their first four home matches Louisville has outscored their opponents 8-1, scoring in the first half in every one of those contests. In all, Louisville City FC has had 10 goals scored by eight different players, and are coming off of their best performance yet.
On Tuesday in a 3-0 win over Wilmington, Lou City's offense ignited for three goals before the halftime whistle blew. Magnus Rasmussen scored in the 16th minute to become the first player in club history to score a second goal. Newly signed Aodhan Quinn had a dream debut, scoring a highlight reel goal off of a half volley and tacking on assist two minutes later on a goal scored by Conor Shanosky.
Louisville is currently in a stretch of a possible 6 matches in 19 days, while their opponent on Saturday will be playing their second match in three days. Toronto FC II just played on Thursday and notched their second win of the season. A come from behind 2-1 win over Saint Louis FC Edwin Rivas and Massimo Mirabelli scored first-half goals in the ninth and 38th minutes to give the Reds their second win of the season.
Toronto FC II has played all seven of their matches this season on the road while their stadium is being renovated. Their eighth road match in a row will be the last of a very lengthy road trip.
It is three points that both clubs could use. A Louisville City FC win could push them to third in the Eastern Conference Table, while a Toronto victory could see TFCII leapfrog several teams to get above the playoff line.
