Orange County SC News Release
IRVINE, Calif. (May 15, 2015) - Orange County Blues FC takes on Tulsa Roughnecks in the squad's second game in four days. Saturday's matchup is the first time both teams meet and kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at Anteater Stadium.
The Blues currently sit on top of the Western Conference standings with 15 points (5-2-0), after beating Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 3-1 on Wednesday night. Forward Christofer Ramirez had an excellent game with two goals and outplayed Switchbacks defenders and goalkeeper. Defender Brenton Griffiths made an impressive header off a corner from Seung Ju Kim to secure his first goal of the season.
Orange County will not settle for less than three points to keep their current first place position. The team, led by Head Coach Oliver Wyss, has improved since their first match of the season. Ramirez constantly poses a threat to defenders, capitalizing off the opposition's mistakes. Goalkeeper Pepe Miranda has appeared in six matches, recording three shutouts and only four goals against.
Tulsa most recently suffered a 2-0 loss against LA Galaxy II on Wednesday night landing them a record of 1-4-2 with five points. Former Blues winger Gibson Bardsley leads the team with two goals. Goalkeeper Zac Lubin leads the league with 31 saves in seven appearances.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. PT and fans unable to attend the match may stream it live on YouTube/OCBluesFC.
