Legion FC heads to Memphis for the first time this season looking to avenge a 1-0 home defeat to 901 FC on July 10. The head-to-head record between these two rivals is currently three wins in BHM's favor to two for MEM, with three draws. Legion won the first match up in 2021 1-0 at Legion Field on a Matt VanOekel to Neco Brett goal.

Playing a fifth game in two weeks, and fresh off a season-high four goals in a win over SKC on Wednesday, Legion FC will aim to keep things rolling while rotating the squad to try and remain fresh. In the attack, Wednesday was the first time as a trio that all three of Neco Brett, Junior Flemmings, and JJ Williams scored in the same game, and Brett now sits second in the USLC Golden Boot Race with 11 on the season.

Williams is up to three goals and three assists this year, while a goal and assist against SKC gave Flemmings three goals and two assists with BHM. Midfielder Anderson Asiedu leads the team in tackles and is second in interceptions to captain Phanuel Kavita and did bag his first professional goal to seal the 4-2 win midweek.

Memphis 901 FC is making a push for the playoffs with over half of its games still remaining. Even though its currently sitting in sixth in the Central Division, 901 FC has played the least number of games in the group and are just two points behind third-place Tulsa, at the moment. The team is also on a solid run of form, having taken points from six of its last seven matches. Memphis fares pretty well at home at AutoZone Park, as its 2-2-1 at home this season, while Legion FC have an impressive 5-3-1 record on the road in 2021.

The 901 attack is keyed by USL Championship Player of the Month Kyle Murphy who has four goals in his last four games, including the game-winner against Legion on 7/10, and nine goals on the season, tied for third-most in the USLC. Murphy leads the team in shots (27), Laurent Kissiedou is tops in chances created (21) and four players are tied for the lead in assists (two).

On this week's VIVA Health injury report, Legion FC midfielder Daigo Kobayashi (knee) is questionable, and midfielder Bruno Lapa is out due to a sports hernia. Defender Freddy Kleemann has been recalled from loan by Austin FC.
