Loudoun United FC News Release
Leesburg, VA - Loudoun United FC return to Segra Field this Saturday, April 4, to host Birmingham Legion FC. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. ET as the Red-and-White look to secure their first league win of the 2026 USL Championship season.
The Matchup
The Red-and-White look to bounce back at home following a midweek outing in the U.S. Open Cup. Returning to league play, Loudoun United will aim to build momentum in front of their home crowd as they continue to settle into the early stretch of the 2026 USL Championship season.
Birmingham Legion FC enters the matchup as a well-organized Eastern Conference opponent known for it's defensive structure and physical presence. Legion has consistently been one of the more difficult sides to break down, often relying on disciplined shape and efficiency in transition to grind out results. Their experience and composure make them a dangerous test, especially in tight matches where moments can decide the outcome.
For Loudoun, Saturday presents an opportunity to respond with energy and intent. The Red-and-White have shown flashes of strong buildup play and attacking creativity is recent matches, but will be focused on turning those moments into end product in the final third. Maintaining defensive discipline while capitalizing in chances will be key against a Birmingham side that rarely gives much away.
Thoughts from the Club
Head Coach Anthony Limbrick on recent performances and building momentum heading into Saturday:
"I thought Tampa was a really well-contested game against a strong team, and we more than matched them in a lot of moments. We got back to 1-1 but conceded straight away after, and those are the moments we need to shift in our favor. The Richmond game was a tough cup environment, and conceding late was disappointing, but the players gave absolutely everything. We're staying positive, working hard on the training pitch, and continuing to build as a group. If we keep doing the right things, the results will come, and we're focused on putting that together this Saturday."
Notes
Loudoun United FC is 3-1-6 all time against Birmingham Legion FC.
