Phoenix Rising FC News Release
Rising looks to advance to the Round of 16 for a second time in three seasons when it travels to PayPal Park to face the 'Quakes
Following its 2-1 win over Orange County SC on April 1, Phoenix Rising will travel to the South Bay to face the San Jose Earthquakes in the Round of 32 of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match will air on CBS Sports Golazo Network and Paramount+, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, April 15, at PayPal Park.
"This is a positive step in where we want to go in our season," forward Darius Johnson said following the match against Orange County SC. "The boys showed the character we have been searching for. To see games out, hit first and come back from whatever it is that has put us down."
2026 marks a third straight season in which Rising will compete in the Round of 32, having faced Houston Dynamo in 2025 and North Carolina FC in 2024. With a win, the club will advance to the Round of 16 for a second time in three years.
On the other side of Rising's group, Minnesota United FC (MLS) will travel to face Sacramento Republic FC (USL Championship). The winner of that match will meet the winner of Rising's match in the Round of 16.
10-8-3 all-time in the Open Cup since making its tournament debut in 2014, Rising will look to win three consecutive matches in the campaign for the first time in club history when it travels to San Jose for the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
