Sweet Home Chicago: The Red Stars begin a two-game homestead for the NWSL regular season at SeatGeek Stadium after finishing the last three games of the Challenge Cup on the road. The Red Stars finished out the 2021 season 8-2-2 at home, and look to continue their winning record at home for the 2022 season.
A First for the First: The Chicago Red Stars will play their first match of the NWSL regular season at home since 2015. Saturday's match marks the first NWSL Red Stars opener at SeatGeek Stadium given that the 2015 opener was in Lisle. In the last two seasons, the first games of the regular season were in Portland and North Carolina, from 2018-2016 the Red Stars opened in Houston. Since 2013, the Red Stars' record on opening days is 2-3-3
Wrong Side of History: The Red Stars are still looking for their first win against Racing Louisville FC. The last time the Red Stars hosted Racing Louisville in the regular season was June 26, which ended in a 0-3 loss for Chicago. The two played again in August, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Kealia Watt is the sole goal scorer against Racing Louisville in the regular season for the Red Stars.
