Match Preview: Bethlehem Steel FC Travels to Face Hartford Athletic at Rentschler Field
June 27, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Philadelphia Union II News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Bethlehem Steel FC (4-8-4) looks for a strong performance on the road following a scrappy second half in its last match as the club travels to take on Hartford Athletic (2-10-4) at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Last weekend the Steel squared off against the Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Rowdies and found themselves on the back foot in the opening half. The club picked it up over the final 45 minutes and pinned back one of the best teams in the league. Despite not getting the end result, the way Steel FC adjusted against the Rowdies should help build momentum as the Boys in Blue hit the road for the first time in over a month.
Friday night's match will be the first-ever meeting between Steel FC and Hartford, with 2019 being the expansion club's first year in USL Championship. They've gotten off to a slow start with only two wins through 16 matches, but six of their 10 points have come in the club's last five matches, going 1-1-3 in that time. While Harford might not look like one of the premier sides in the league, Steel FC has to be careful. If they aren't careful, the Steel could trip on one that they should take points from, especially without team captain James Chambers who is serving a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation.
