Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA - Atlanta United returns to action Saturday when it travels to face Chicago Fire at Soldier Field. The match is set to kick-off at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while fans can also tune-in to radio calls on 92.9 The Game and La Mejor.
Atlanta holds an all-time record of 8-4-2 against Chicago in MLS play: 7-0-0 at home and 1-4-2 on the road. This is the second of the two meetings between the teams in 2024 as Atlanta defeated Chicago 3-0 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on March 31 behind a goal from Giorgos Giakoumakis and a brace from Jamal Thiaré.
Giakoumakis' rate of .90 goals per 90 minutes is the highest mark in MLS since the beginning of the 2023 season when he joined the league, among players who have played at least 500 minutes.
The Greek striker has scored four goals in three matches and a total of 167 minutes against Chicago, the most he has scored against any MLS team.
Thiago Almada scored his 20th career goal in MLS (regular season and playoffs) against FC Cincinnati, to go along with 33 assists. He became the third player in club history to reach at least 20 goals and 20 assists, joining Miguel Almirón and Tito Villalba.
Brooks Lennon leads all MLS defenders in key passes this season with 22. Atlanta also leads the league with 49 successful crosses, 38 of which have come from the right side.
Atlanta enters the weekend tied for the second-fewest goals conceded in the Eastern Conference with nine.
