Martinez Returns To Catching Duties

Fort Wayne, IN - Catcher Luis Martinez was reinstated from the Fort Wayne Wizards disabled list today and catcher Ali Solis was reassigned back to the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League, San Diego Padres officials announced.

Martinez was injured at the end of the first half of the Midwest League's split season when the Wizards were visiting the West Michigan Whitecaps, the affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Martinez returns to the line-up with a .189 average, a pair of home runs and seven runs batted in. Solis, who has split time between Eugene and Fort Wayne, was hitting .139 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 22 games.

The Wizards open an eight-game homestand tonight at 7:00 p.m. against the Whitecaps in the first of four games. Following the four-game set with West Michigan, Fort Wayne will host the Dayton Dragons, the Midwest League affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
