
Marte Goes Deep But Riders Drop Season Finale

FRISCO, TEXAS (September 7, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders ended their 2015 campaign with a 6-4 loss to the Midland RockHounds on Monday evening at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The RoughRiders finished the season with a 60-79 record. Luis Marte homered in the eighth inning for Frisco.
The RockHounds struck first with three runs in the second frame. Chad Pinder led off with a double and Matt Olson followed with his 17th home run of the season. Later in the inning, Wade Kirkland hit a solo-homer to give Midland a 3-0 advantage.
Frisco got one run back in the third inning. Marte singled and later moved to third on a wild pitch. Texas Rangers' rehabber Jurickson Profar hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Marte and making it a 3-1 game. Profar went one-for-two on the night with a double, RBI-sac fly, and walk.
The Riders made it a one-run contest in the sixth. Frisco loaded the bases and with one out Kellin Deglan knocked in Preston Beck, but Marte popped out and Zach Cone grounded out to end the frame.
Midland added three runs in the seventh. Jaycob Brugman and Anthony Aliotti notched RBI-singles and Kirkland stole home to give Midland the 6-2 lead.
The RoughRiders cut into the lead in the eighth. Trever Adams led off with a single and Marte crushed his third homer of the year to left field to make it a 6-4 contest.
Kris Hall tossed two shutout innings of relief in the winning effort for the Hounds. The right-hander allowed one hit and one walk but struck out three. Adam Quintana dropped the decision for the RoughRiders over five innings. The Peru State-product allowed three runs on six hits. He struck out six and did not give up a walk in the performance.
Ryan Doolittle tossed a scoreless final frame to pick up his fourth save and finish off the 6-4 victory for the Midland RockHounds.
