San Antonio Missions News Release

San Antonio's season came to an end following a 12-8 loss to Corpus Christi Monday afternoon at Wolff Stadium.

The Hooks opened up scoring in the top of the second against Stephen Kohlscheen when Conrad Gregor doubled, moved to third on a Jio Mier grounder and then came home on a fielding error by third baseman Gabriel Quintana.

San Antonio answered in its half of the frame, tying the game at one with Kyle Gaedele's RBI single off starter Francis Martes.

In the top of the third, the Hooks took advantage of three more errors (two from Quintana) to plate a pair of runs.

After San Antonio got one back in the bottom of the third on a Diego Goris sacrifice fly, Benji Gonzalez tied the game at three in the sixth with an RBI single to center off Edison Frias (4-1).

However, any hopes of a season-ending Missions win were quickly dashed in the seventh, when the Hooks erupted for eight runs on four hits and two more errors to open up a commanding 11-3 lead.

San Antonio made the score 11-4 in the eighth when catcher Ryan Miller drove in Quintana from third on a fielder's choice.

After the Hooks added a run in the top of the ninth to go back up eight, the Missions put together a rally in the bottom half, plating four runs on five hits against relievers Tyler Brunnemann and Jandel Gustave. Corpus Christi (41-29, 89-51) finally put the game to an end when Gustave got Auston Bousfield to ground into a fielder's choice.

Cody Hebner (0-3) took the loss for San Antonio (29-41, 60-80) after allowing seven runs (five earned) in the seventh (did not record an out).

Notes: The six errors were the most in a game for the Missions since 2004 (also a six-error game). Before the game, RHP Adam Cimber was transferred to Triple-A El Paso. Fellow righty Samuel Holland was transferred to Short-Season Tri-City.
