
Marooney Commits to the Golden Gophers

The Green Bay Gamblers are proud to announce that forward Joey Marooney has committed to the University of Minnesota. Marooney will begin his collegiate career with the Golden Gophers beginning in the fall of 2016.
Marooney was acquired via a trade with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders last January. In 24 games with the Gamblers during the 2014-15 campaign, the Chaska, Minnesota native tallied 13 points (3g & 10a) in 24 games. This season, Marooney has appeared in all 34 games, registering 10 goals and 10 assists.
Marooney is the 16th player on the 2015-16 roster to commit to an NCAA Division I institution. The list includes: Matt Berkovitz (Wisconsin), Ryan Blankemeier (Dartmouth), Grant Frederic (Miami of Ohio), Chris Grando (Boston College), Brett Gruber (Arizona State), Cam Lee (Western Michigan) John Leonard (UMASS), Marc Michaelis (Minnesota State), Connor Murphy (Cornell), Gordi Myer (Ohio State), Andrew Peeke (Notre Dame), Jack Poehling (St. Cloud State), Nick Poehling (St. Cloud State), Sam Saliba (Michigan State) and Jared Spooner (Minnesota State).
