JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Miami Marlins right-handed pitcher Jordan Holloway will make a rehab start for the Jumbo Shrimp Saturday in Gwinnett, as Jacksonville takes on the Stripers at Coolray Field in game five of a six-game series.

Holloway has been on the injured list since May 22 after suffering a groin injury in his outing the night before against the New York Mets. Holloway had pitched the second inning in relief on May 21 against the Mets, following John Curtiss, who had served as the opener.

Prior to the injury, Holloway had made eight appearances (two starts) for the Marlins, compiling a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 2.55. In 17.2 innings, he yielded five earned runs and struck out 14.

The 24-year-old rapidly ascended the Marlins system after being drafted by Miami in the 20th round in 2014 out of Ralston Valley High School (Arvada, Colo.). After spending 2019 in High-A Jupiter, where he was a Florida State League mid-season All-Star, Holloway jumped all the way to the major leagues in 2020, making the Marlins' Opening Day roster. He made his major league debut against the Phillies on July 26, pitching a scoreless one-third of an inning at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

However, the Marlins placed Holloway on the 60-day injured list on August 2, 2020, and he missed the remainder of the season without making another appearance.

Holloway was a New York-Penn League All-Star in 2015 and was first added to the Marlins' 40-man roster following the 2018 campaign. A native of Arvada, Colo., Holloway signed with Miami after being drafted, forgoing his commitment to play college baseball at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
