TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Marlies overtook the Hamilton Bulldogs in the final match-up between the divisional and provincial rivals this season.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at 11:13 in the first period when Brian Willsie fed a slot pass to Joonas Nattinen, who beat Marlies netminder Ben Scrivens with his 11th of the season. With 1:23 left to play in the first period, Nicolas Deschamps scored his 12th of the season against Bulldogs goaltender Robert Mayer to tie the game at 1. The first period also saw a few fights, with Zack FitzGerald taking on both Kelsey Wilson and Colton Orr at the same stoppage of play, earning him a team record for most penalty minutes by a defenseman in a single season.

The second period was scoreless, though Philip DeSimone earned a penalty shot after Andrew Martens took him down in front of Scrivens' net. The unsuccessful attempt kept the score tied at 1 after 40 minutes, with the Marlies edging the Bulldogs 19-18 in shots.

Then, with 10:52 left in the third period, Ryan Hamilton gave the Marlies a 2-1 lead on what ended up being a breakaway play. Toronto added an empty net goal with 17.6 seconds left to play. Their 3-1 victory gave them a 8-4-0-0 record against the Bulldogs this season.
