Heat Clinch Playoff Berth, Win Franchise-Best 40th of the Season

Charlotte, NC - Abbotsford completed their 2011-12 road schedule with an 8-2 victory in Charlotte. The win is the team's 40th of the season - a new franchise record - and sees the Heat clinch a berth in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Abbotsford's Ben Walter opened the scoring with his 19th of the season while Hugh Jessiman, Adam Estoclet and Dustin Sylvester each netted single goals in North Carolina. Paul Byron and Krys Kolanos both notched a pair of goals in the win, for Kolanos they were his 29th and 30th on the campaign and extended his goal scoring streak to seven games.

Multi-point games were enjoyed by Kolanos (2-3-5), Sylvester (1-3-4), Byron (2-1-3), and Brian Connelly (0-2-2); it was Kolanos' second five point game of his career having just accomplished the feat March 24th against the San Antonio Rampage.

The Heat outshot the Checkers 40-24 helping to earn Danny Taylor his fourth win a row and 21st of the season.

The Heat close out their regular season Friday and Sunday April 13th and 15th hosting the Toronto Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs). Friday's game is another Post-Game Concert Series featuring Victoria Duffield while Sunday is the annual Fan Appreciation game that includes a chance to win a Sick Civic from the Honda Way.
