Orange County Flyers News Release

YUMA, Ariz. (August 11, 2010) - Former Chicago Cubs All-Star Mark Prior struck out five straight batters, and Orange County came from behind to win, 3-2, on a walk-off walk in the bottom of the seventh against the Tijuana Cimarrones in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. Orange County played as the home team, using this game along with Friday's doubleheader to make up games originally scheduled for August 16 and 17 that were moved to accommodate Tijuana's travel schedule.

Prior, a five-year MLB veteran who was signed by the Flyers last week, tossed two scoreless innings and worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam by strking out the next two batters to get out of the fifth. He went on to strike out the side in the sixth, keeping the game close for the Flyers eventual comeback.

The Flyers trailed 2-0 going into the sixth inning before sloppy Cimarrones fielding set up the tying runs. Zach Mandelblatt walked to lead off the inning. Tyler Keeble hit a ground ball to third base that could have resulted in a double-play, but second baseman Zach Starkey didn't touch second and then threw the ball away toward first, putting runners in scoring position for OC.

Jimmy Rohan knocked a sac-fly to cash Mandelblatt, and Sergio Pedroza doubled to score Keeble, tying the game, 2-2 after six innings.

Closer Andre Simpson pitched a 1-2-3 top of the seventh, striking out two batters and earning the win, improving to 3-4 on the season.

Alex Jamieson singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh, and stole second base before advancing to third on an Eric Pringle ground out, putting the winning run 90 feet from home. After consecutive intentional walks to Derek Perren and Zach Mandelblatt to load the bases, Tyler Keeble drew the game-winning walk.

OC starter Jake Renshaw did not take a decision, shutting out Tijuana through the first three innings before allowing a pair of runs in the fourth. Cimarrones starter Shelby Robertson blanked the Flyers through five innings before allowing the two runs in the six. Reliever Daivis Burguillos took the loss, surrending the game-winning walk to Keeble.

The series against Tijuana in Yuma continues on Thursday at 3pm Pacific. The game can be heard live online through www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.
