Orange County Flyers News Release

YUMA, Ariz. (August 11, 2010) - Sergio Pedroza tied a franchise record with three doubles in one game as the Orange County Flyers rolled to an 8-0 win over the Tijuana Cimarrones in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. (Doubleheaders in minor league baseball are two seven-inning games.) The Flyers shut out the Cimarrones for the second time this season.

Pedroza doubled in each of his first three at bats, putting OC on the board in the first inning with an RBI-double, and added to the Flyers lead with a two-run double in the third inning.

The Flyers broke open the game with a five-run third. After Pedroza's double, shortstop Tyler Keeble, catcher Jim Goethals and starting pitcher Cha-Seung Baek all added RBI-hits.

Baek did not take a decision despite four scoreless innings of work, allowing two hits with four strike outs and one walk. Kevin Altman (5-4) struck out another four Cimarrones in two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Jimmy Rohan added three base hits for Orange County - giving himself a league-leading 99 hits on the season - and was the only Flyer to cross the plate twice in the game.

Peanut Williams set the Flyers franchise mark with three doubles in a game in 2007 against the Yuma Scorpions, and Fernando Pacheco matched the feat in 2008 against St. George.

The game was played at Yuma's Ray Kroc Baseball Complex as the Tijuana Cimarrones' home facility likely for the remainder of the 2010 season. Orange County and Tijuana are playing seven games in four days with the series continuing on Thursday with a nine-inning game at 3pm Pacific. Games can be heard live online through www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.
