March 30, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting in today's edition that Chicago Cubs ace pitcher Mark Prior could start for the Iowa Cubs against the Albuquerque Isotopes in the Pacific Coast League season opener next Thursday, April 7.
Prior would be making a rehab assignment for Iowa in preparation for rejoining the Major League Cubs the following week. The Sun-Times advised: "fans in New Mexico might want to buy tickets on speculation that Prior might end up pitching for Iowa that day." The report has not yet been confirmed.
Prior finished third in the 2003 National League Cy Young Award balloting and was named to the National League All-Star Game that same season, his first full season in the Major Leagues. The 24-year-old is currently nursing inflammation in his right elbow.
The Isotopes and Cubs square off in a four-game series, beginning April 7 at 7:05 PM. Individual game tickets for all 72 regular season games are currently on sale as are Season Tickets and Mini Plans. Call 924-2255 for more information.
