Marimon Joins Naturals

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Naturals' parent club, the Kansas City Royals announced a pair of transactions on Thursday affecting the Northwest Arkansas right-handed pitcher Sugar Ray Marimon has been transferred from Class-A Advanced Wilmington to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Marimon last pitched on Tuesday night in the as a member of the Carolina League All-Star team. He went one perfect inning recording a pair of strikeouts. The Colombian born pitcher went 4-2 with a 2.12 ERA in 14 games for the Blue Rocks. He started nine of those 14 contests and has worked 61.0 innings allowing 51 hits, while striking out 60.

Marimon will become the first Colombian born player to don a Naturals uniform. The Naturals have now had player from 10 countries or territories outside of the United States. The ten countries or territories are Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.

In order to make room for Marimon on the roster the Royals released right-hander Tim Sexton. Sexton was 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in four appearances with the Naturals.

The Naturals roster is now at the Texas League's limit of 25 players and includes both Paulino and outfielder Lorenzo Cain on major league rehabilitation assignments. In order to make room for the additions
