Asheville Tourists News Release
LEXINGTON- The Asheville Tourists once again picked up a win on getaway day against the Lexington Legends. Asheville used a five-run third inning to take a lead they would never relinquish. The Tourists held off a couple of late Legends rallies and won 6-3.
Ramon Marcelino let the way by finishing 3-for-5. Marcelino hit a three-run Home Run in the third inning after he doubled in his first at-bat. Sean Bouchard opened the scoring with a two-out single to centerfield. Marcelino's longball made it 4-0 and Todd Czinege followed with a solo shot to give Asheville a 5-0 advantage.
The Legends used a two-run Home Run by Cristian Perez in the bottom of the third inning to inch closer. Both teams traded runs in the fourth with Asheville's coming on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Vilade. Neither team scored over the game's final five innings.
Lucas Gilbreath chewed up six frames for Asheville and struck out seven batters en route to his second straight victory. Nate Harris, Hunter Williams, Hayden Roberts, and Tommy Doyle combined to finish out the contest and keep the Legends off the scoreboard.
Asheville's bullpen did not allow an earned run the entire series. Lexington's starting pitcher, Charlie Neuweiler, lasted only three innings. Every Tourist player reached base at least once in the game.
The current road trip now shifts to Greensboro, NC where the Tourists open up a four-game series against the Grasshoppers on Friday night. Asheville is 8-2 this year against Greensboro.
