Marcantuoni and Catenacci Lead Rangers to 6-2 Victory

Matia Marcantuoni and Michael Catenacci scored two goals each to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a 6-2 victory over the Oshawa Generals.

After a blank first period, the Generals' Scott Laughton opened up scoring at the 9:18 mark of the second. Tyler Randell answered back with a wrist shot that went through the five-hole of Oshawa netminder Peter Di Salvo at 10:51 to tie the game at 1-1. The Rangers took a 2-1 lead at the 14:54 mark after Marcantuoni scored his tenth of the season on a Kitchener power play. Tobias Rieder increased the Rangers lead 3-1 with a short-handed marker at 16:27. Oshawa's Andy Andreoff deflected a Christian Thomas shot past Kitchener goaltender Brandon Maxwell with 1:25 left in the period to make it 3-2.

Catenacci netted his tenth of the season through the pads of Di Salvo to restore the Rangers two goal lead by the midway mark of the third period. Marcantuoni scored his second of the game to advance the score 5-2 for the Rangers at 14:10. Catenacci backhanded his second of the game, top shelf past Di Salvo at 16:06 to put Kitchener up 6-2.

Rangers netminder Brandon Maxwell turned aside 32 of 34 shots in the win.

The Rangers return to home ice on Sunday, January 23rd to host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Game time is 7:00 pm. Please take note of the time change due to Rogers Sportsnet and RDS coverage.
