Bradenton Marauders News Release
Fort Myers, FL - The Marauders (35-24, 67-62) came up inches short in their comeback bid, falling 3-2 to the Miracle (33-28, 71-60) when C Reese McGuire was tagged out at the plate trying to score on 2B Michael Fransoso's fly out to shallow left. Bradenton entered the ninth inning trailing 3-0.
Bradenton began the ninth with a leadoff single from DH Jin-De Jhang off Trever Hildenberger. The Miracle righty then hit 3B Wyatt Mathisen to bring up McGuire. Bradenton's catcher yanked a single to right field, scoring Jhang and moving Mathisen to third base. SS Chris Diaz dropped down a safety squeeze to plate Mathisen, and while the Miracle recorded the out at first, McGuire rounded second and headed for third. McGuire was initially tagged out after colliding with a Miracle infielder, but after consultation the umpires ruled obstruction should be enforced and returned McGuire to third with one out.
Fransoso followed with a fly ball to left, where Zach Granite made the catch and threw toward home. Fort Myers catcher Mitch Garver came up the line for the catch and swiped back to clip McGuire's leg for the out.
Fort Myers starter Ethan Mildren (W, 2-4) kept Bradenton off the board for the first six innings. In his longest start in over a month, the righty fanned three and walked one. Jake Reed and Zach Jones each tossed a scoreless frame for Fort Myers.
RHP Frank Duncan (L, 8-10) went six innings and struck out six without a walk on the mound for the Marauders. Three errors behind Duncan led to two of the three runs surrendered by Duncan being unearned. LHP Andy Otamendi and RHP Isaac Sanchez each fired a scoreless inning.
The Marauders have slipped to five games behind South Division leading Palm Beach.
