Bradenton Marauders News Release
CLEARWATER, Fla. - In the third game of a four game series on the road in Clearwater, the Bradenton Marauders dropped their ninth consecutive decision overall and third game in a row to the Clearwater Threshers on Wednesday night at Spectrum Field.
In the second start for LHP Domingo Robles with the Bradenton Marauders, the 20 year old made an excellent comeback start after entering Wednesday's game with a 24.30 ERA after his first start five days prior. The lefty tossed seven scoreless innings on 93 pitches on just three hits with one strikeout and four walks included. Clearwater's starting pitcher RHP Adonis Medina was almost equally as excellent as Robles, flying through seven matching frames as the Phillies #4 prospect as rated by Baseball America tied a season high in innings pitched and matched his season strikeout high with twelve to his zero walks, all while giving up a single run on just four hits as both starting pitchers earned no decisions in a game that was ultimately decided by the bullpens.
In a pitcher's duel by very definition, the Marauders struck first in their half of the fourth and were unable to hold on to just their second one run lead of the first three games of the set. After Mitchell Tolman led off the frame with his 11th double of the year, a Casey Hughston RBI single gave the Marauders their only lead of the night on Hughston's second RBI out of the three total runs in the series for the visitors. Clearwater plated a pair of runs off RHP Deivy Mendez in the home half of the eighth to put themselves ahead for good.
The Marauders finish their four game set with the final game against the Clearwater Threshers on Thursday, with RHP Pedro Vasquez on the hill against LHP David Parkinson for the home side, with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
