Bradenton Marauders News Release

Lakeland, FL--- On a cold and windy night in Lakeland, the Marauders took on the Flying Tigers in their home opener on Tuesday night at Publix Field. The Marauders turned to 2022 11th-round pick Dominic Perachi on the mound to start things off. The lefty was the only Division Three player selected in the draft and ended his day with 3.1 IP allowing just two runs and striking out three in his pro debut. Perachi received early run support from a Nick Cimillo RBI single in the top of the 2nd inning. Aided by two more runs in the 4th inning, one of them being a thrilling Jack Brannigan steal of home, the Marauders headed to the 5th inning leading 3-2. Bradenton would add another in that frame off of a wild pitch. The top of the inning would be the end of the Marauders' good fortunes, though, as in the home half of the 5th, the Tigers would push five runs across off five hits to give them a 7-4 lead with four innings to go. The Lakeland bullpen would go on to throw four scoreless innings, riding their massive 5th inning to a 7-4 win. The Marauders featured some positive moments on offense, with Jack Brannigan and Jesus Castillo logging multi-hit nights at the plate. Mike Walsh, drafted in 2022 from Yale, also tossed a solid inning in relief for the Baby Buccos. The Marauders will face Lakeland again on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with the loss Tuesday; The Marauders fell to 1-3 with all three losses coming consecutively.
