Marathon Game Ends with Columbia Victory

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 16-8 to the Columbia Fireflies on Monday night. The game would last 3 hours and 51 minutes.

Columbia got off to a quick start in the ballgame by putting up six runs in the top of the first inning. They would follow with one run in the top of the second inning to make the score 7-0.

The GreenJackets would answer with one of their own off the bat of Manuel Geraldo in the third inning to make the score 7-1. This was before the Fireflies would add four more runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 11-1 lead.

Augusta would not go away, the GreenJackets would put up four in the bottom of the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 11-6. The Fireflies would respond with five more runs in the top of the seventh to pull ahead by 10 runs.

The GreenJackets would add two in the bottom of the ninth inning, but it wouldn't be enough. They drop game three of the series, 16-8. There were a total of 27 hits in the game. The finale of the series with the Fireflies will be tomorrow at 6:35 pm.

Tomorrow we will have an Independence Day bash followed by a Fireworks Extravaganza!
