Crawdads Homer Twice in 5-1 Victory over Greensboro

Hickory, NC - The 'Dads hit a pair of homeruns as they defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 5-1 on Monday night. The 'Dads lead the series against Greensboro 2-1.

The Grasshoppers hit a solo homerun in the top of the first inning to give them an early 1-0 lead.

Miguel Aparicio tied things up in the bottom of the first with a deep homerun to right. The rally continued as Preston Scott singled on a ground ball to left and was brought around to score as Yohel Pozo hit his eighth homerun of the season to give the 'Dads a 3-0 lead.

Ryan Dorow led off the bottom of the fifth with a double. Tyreque Reed hit a single to right that drove him in.

The 'Dads added onto their lead again in the sixth. Yonny Hernandez started the inning off with a triple. He tagged up to score as Bubba Thompson hit a sacrifice fly to right that made the score 5-1.

On the mound for the Crawdads, Tyler Phillips pitched five innings, allowing just the solo homerun in the first. He gave up three hits, walked one, struck out nine, and picked up his fifth win of the season. Joe Barlow took over in the sixth and pitched two hitless innings. Tyler Ferguson took the 'Dads the rest of the way, throwing two hitless innings of his own.

The homestand will wrap up tomorrow night with an Independence Day Celebration and the largest fireworks show of the season. A limited number of tickets remain for the game so get your tickets now.
